I've said it before, and I'll say it again:❌ #Amazon is not a retailer. ✅ It's a tech and logistics company.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Amazon delivers more packages than UPS and FedEx in the US.
Making Amazon the largest delivery business in North America.
And this is not the end. With Amazon externalising its fulfilment and transportation capabilities, it will soon surpass more providers in other markets.
Amazon is known to push more brands to participate in Amazon Freight.
A programme designed to grant businesses access to Amazon's owned fleet of trucks and carrier network.
The reason is simple: it's a profitable business model. The more volume goes through Amazon's warehouse and transportation network, the lower its operating costs.
In 2023 alone, Amazon delivered over 4.8 billion (!) packages in the US. That figure does -not- include Thanksgiving or the ongoing Black Friday event.
Great read from the WSJ.
--- What do you think? Will the rise of Amazon's delivery services outcompete other providers in your market?
