My honest opinion on Amazon aggregators
5-figure sellers don't understand this. They may know about them, but they don't understand them.
The best negative review ever? I think so. If people love you or your company, then they can accept
Master Amazon A+. Combine this 20-minute video with the Amazon Creatives archive and you cannot fail with Amazon A+ content.
Apple launched on Amazon Australia. Here is my full review. I look at their main images, A+ content, and storefronts.
Higher CTR on product targeting when using sponsored video ads. This is where we place a video on a competitor listing.
UK consumables CPC's are up 18.5%. Following recent data that showed a 46% increase since January, we thought we'd dig a little deeper.
Responding to negative reviews on Amazon is allowed. These babies can kill your ASIN before it's even got into second gear, which is why you want to
91% of consumers want personalisation. Stating they are more likely to shop with brands that offer relevant recommendations.

Is IOS15 going to kill email communication? Hippeas nail Amazon ads. Get A+ help. Main images crucial.
Older ad campaigns work better than new ones and the cost per click has increased.
Struggling to get customer data? Here is another way to think about collecting it. Now let me tie it back to relevant activities like the rise in Amazon aggregators.
Amazon retargeting is sensational, but you still need these two things.
Have you ever thought of creating a demand for your product before launching the product? Create a following for your product through blogging then build the product that your followers desire.
Get traffic, then launch a product. Build demand, then launch a product.
Amazon Australia ad business is tiny. Amazon launched in late 2017, its revenues were $17.4m.
Thanks to the 26% of you that opened last weeks email.
45 video examples of storefronts and A+ content. I challenge you not to view some of these and be inspired to change your content today.
I’m campervanning this week, so I’ve not learned too much about Amazon to be honest. But I’ll take this opportunity to launch my new website: georges.blog
There is no replacement to talking with customers. Julianna spoke about this on the pod recently and I wanted to reinforce again. Aiming for X number of genuine conversations with customers each month, no matter what your business, is going to help you become more successful.
Lego are so consistent. Check out the top search terms on Amazon over the last year.
In 2020 internet retail sales grew immensely. From 20.8% of UK total retail sales at the beginning of the year to 31.9% by the end of the year. That’s five years growth, in one year.
Exceptional content examples you can copy. Engulf my greatest bits of Amazon content, all neatly organised and NOW FREE. Join the Amazon Creatives group now before I change my mind. Spend an hour devouring; infographics, lifestyle, storefront, A+, product shots, packaging, advertising, and much more.
Main images are getting bigger. I’ve been banging on recently how everything comes down to the main image [article], but they’ve just got even more important on Amazon. Now they’re all pumped up and enlarged, you better be damn sure yours look outstanding [example].
Amazon introduces “Built It”. Firstly, I think this is excellent for customers. But there is a dark side to this.
What if you utilised reviews on your storefront? I mocked up an example here
Entertain me. Educate me. Inspire me. Delight me. The best marketing doesn’t feel like marketing. In this week episode of the podcast I talked with the founder of Wild deodorant. One of the biggest reasons they are booming right now is because they’re EDUCATING their audience on how their product works. Without this, all their customers could’ve had a negative experience on first use. But instead. They’re loving in and have a huge Facebook group community.
Jeff is stepping down. I could write some ramble about this but there is going to be ample literature on the topic. IMO you fall into 2 camps: shareholders or non-shareholders. Shareholders might wonder whether this means up or down. Non-shareholders, well it’s just business as usual.
Amazon’s delivery service is worth billions. With Amazon, it all starts with an operational base. You then move onto brand. Finally, you start advertising. I call this The Mountain Strategy. A strong strategy as a brand on Amazon, should ultimately copy what Amazon have been focusing on in the last 10 years. 2020 saw an unprecedented
75% of new Amazon sellers are from China. Sometimes you have to be honest with yourself, stay with me…do you deserve to be ranked on page 1? George, what the fuck are you talking about, how is this related to China? Well, my fury friends let me explain a little more here. Take you primary search terms, you should have roughly 3-5 of t
Hippeas have a banging storefront [recording, direct link]. Remember the rule of thumb, “does it invoke an emotion?”.
Why don’t we put QR codes on more of our items, it’s logical to help others discover them once they’ve, well, discovered them.
1) Sponsored video ads are unbelievably good for brand awareness, as well as sales. You’re paying for clicks, on a 15-second video! Meaning, thousands of people can see your brand, with high purchase intent in your category, on a platform ripe for purchase, and you don’t need to pay a dime. When have you ever been able to get that??
Creating an Amazon ad campaign with just 1 keyword in it? Utter madness? Perhaps not. The theory boils down to being granular with your campaign structure, and also being well organised. My good friend Florian believes that chucking your top-performing/high-focus keywords into their own campaign allows you to: Set placement bid adjustments for each individual keyword; Have full control of your budgets on a granular level; Always have the performance data in mind when opening the advertising console (campaign data = keyword data)
1) The former Director of Customer Experience at Amazon told me about receiving the dreaded question mark email from Jeff Bezos. Stefan Haney was this weeks podcast guest and what a belter it was. He’s the 3rd director I’ve had on, and recently I’ve been asking myself, “why the fuck do they want to come on the show”, because lets be honest he’s a veteran, and I look like some Amazon virgin – in the Michelle Obama notepad I borrowed from the Mrs, all I’ve got is, “because you’ve got a quintessentially British accent”.
YETI create, or curate (you decide), brilliant lifestyle images for their full product range. Why should you care?
100 examples of great content on Amazon.
How consumable brands approach their strategy on Amazon is about to change significantly. This 30-minute episode of the podcast will blow your mind. Think: data, ltv, repeat purchases, customer journey, and bundling.
Re-designing your packaging can make a 55% change in your YoY sales. Well, it did for this beauty.
People will judge you for looking at panty liners on your laptop in a coffee shop. But I was researching…
I introduced the idea of “Shop Local” on Amazon recently. With an aim to put money back in the pockets of local brands. See my full idea here
Prime Day is just a bit shit for Amazon employees. When I was there I was quite chilled out, but the Mrs has significantly eclipsed my position with her role within the company, and it’s bloody tough. I was up at 1am last night being “supportive”. They put a slog in around this period, so kudos to them.
A conversion specialist should be your first hire for an Amazon business.
My most common question. “What’s the biggest threat to an Amazon business“, and this is the best answer I’ve had so far on the podcast.
My most common question. “What’s the biggest threat to an Amazon business“, and this is the best answer I’ve had so far on the podcast.
Many consultants share my opinion that “we’re just getting started” with Amazon. It is still DAY 1 and there are stacks of opportunity across all categories and all marketplaces. There’s continued demand from those with money looking to invest in or buy Amazon
New podcast on listing optimisation. You can listen on iTunes or elsewhere. You can utilise packaging in your main product image to showcase particular USP’s of your product, as well as who it might be for. Cunningly placing a thumbnail overlay near your packaging stating “for X”, could give you that advantage over competitors and not put you at risk of infringing Amazon’s policies.
To become the biggest non-media seller in the UK you need to start in 2012 and invest in your tech from the get-go. This still applies today though. If you want to build sustainable growth, invest in your tech and data from day 1.
1. Moving to a wine region for a month during Australian winter is an excellent idea. I never went to a wine tasting during British winter, yet I went to at least 6 last weekend.
Amazon are displaying brand stores inside the suggested searches when you start typing a keyword. Further reinforcing their push for brands on the marketplace. If you haven’t got your store yet and are eligible, quit being lazy it’s a few hour job to get some basic but solid up.
I should stop getting remedial massages. They honestly just kick the shit out of me then charge me $90 for it.
Advertising automation is only getting bigger. In my personal opinion, I struggle to see a prosperous future for advertising agencies on Amazon. I think AI and ML are going to become so good in the next 1-3 years many larger firms will be able to bring PPC management in-house. But ultimately, you’ll still need someone to tell the machine what to do, so there’s hope yet.
Many believe Amazon is the biggest threat to an Amazon business right now. Traditionally because of their own brands, however, Andrew Shields, who appeared on the podcast this week, offered a fascinating alternative threat posed by Amazon that I’d overlooked.
It all comes down to your product. If you genuinely have a good product and you drive traffic to it, you’ll succeed. Occasionally I work on a 1-2-1 basis with brands. MTD we achieved $69k in revenue with one product, despite launching on the 30th June.
In the Amazon “expert” world it’s a little different. We all help each other and chat frequently. What’s great about this is we’re continuously learning. And can pass those learnings onto individuals, like you , to help you and your business.
The mountain of Amazon content grows every day.
As a brand owner, it's impossible to digest everything that's being created and shared whilst also trying to run your business.
My idea is to bridge this knowledge gap by filtering through the noise.
Condensing the bombardment of news and strategies into a manageable and entertaining email.
You get a quick, informative, and valuable read.
